Guest of Europe Soir, the Minister of Transformation and the Public Service, Amélie de Montchalin, discusses the continuity of public service during the reconfinement.

It also indicates that civil servants who so wish will be able to continue teleworking in the coming months.

INTERVIEW

This is one of the big differences between containment and re-containment: the continuity of public service.

If the government "asks a lot of the French, opposite we must be exemplary, up to the situation", says on Europe 1 Amélie de Montchalin, Minister of Transformation and the Public Service.

So to walk the talk, public services continue to operate during this new period of traffic restriction, "97% of public service counters are open," she says.

"A huge effort" on teleworking

A work in a particular period which has four axes.

"Keep the counters open, not be late, call vulnerable people (who may find themselves isolated because of the re-containment), but also ensure the protection of agents."

On this last point, the public service has opted for teleworking.

"An enormous effort", specifies the minister, in this environment where working from home "rhymed for many managers as a way of doing nothing".

But the "internal culture of the public service has evolved rapidly".

A sustainable device?

In fact, 40% of agents - excluding teachers and the police - are now teleworking.

A device that could well be perpetuated: "we will continue", indicates Amélie de Montchalin.

"For public officials who will want to continue teleworking over the long term, we must be able to give them access to this organization."
