  • Government.Pedro Sánchez accuses the coup of Iglesias and Otegi "scenography" but censures the 'barons' of the PSOE

Mariano Rajoy avoided mentioning the former PP treasurer, Luis Bárcenas, who gave him so many headaches and referred to him as "that person you are talking about."

It seems to be a matter of La Moncloa because the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has had a very similar attitude in the Senate today.

The PP asked him about the Budgets, if they are beneficial or not, a general question that has allowed the popular spokesman, Javier Maroto, to introduce the announcement of support for EH Bildu and question Sánchez about it, affecting him that it is the "first time" that this understanding is produced with the abertzle left.

"What you have done is unprecedented," he assured.

"It is the first time that he has made a state policy with whom he gets a rash if he has to condemn violence."

Maroto has accused the president that in this way he gives them the option of "blanking themselves" because "never before has a vote been used to integrate Bildu into the state leadership," as the second vice president, Pablo Iglesias, said.

And he has rejected that there is any parallelism with the multitude of votes in which all political groups coincide with Bildu in the Congress, the City Councils or the Basque Parliament.

The chief executive has not answered any of this.

Nor has Bildu cited at any time.

An attitude that, as happened with Rajoy, gives the measure of the dimension of the problem, the scope of the open crisis in the PSOE and in the Government, after Arnaldo Otegui announced his will to support the 2021 accounts and Iglesias applauded his "responsability and compromise".

For five days the PSOE has been defending the normalization of Bildu as one more party, despite criticism from barons such as Guillermo Fernández-Vara, Emiliano García Page and Javier Lambán.

It is true that other regional leaders support it and that the Government tries to focus the debate on the importance of approving the Budgets.

But yesterday the Socialists were forced to step back and ensure that there is no "pact" with Bildu and that they do not even know if they will vote the accounts.

After that rectification, the president has chosen today to remain silent in the Senate.

Yes, there have been other pronouncements.

That of the spokesperson in Congress and deputy secretary general of the PSOE, Adriana Lastra, who has insisted that there is no agreement but also that they will hold negotiations on partial amendments with all political groups.

And that of the very spokesperson for the Government and Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, in charge of these conversations, who has defended that it is "mandatory" for the Executive "to reach agreements with each and every one of the political formations."
