  • E-commerce conquers drugs

November 17, 2020 Seattle-based e-commerce giant announced that it has opened an 'online pharmacy' in the United States, which gives customers the ability to order drugs and scheduled home delivery in a couple of days, just like for purchase of any other product.

Delivery will be on prescription and includes medicines that must be stored at a low temperature such as insulin.

Amazon then takes over a new business, which observers say could shake up the pharmaceutical industry as it did with other economic sectors, from books to toys to food.

Two years ago, the Seattle-based company spent

$ 750 million to purchase PillPack,

startup for the automatic shipment of medicines to patients who needed scheduled deliveries.

Amazon said PillPack's business from now on will focus on people with chronic diseases.
