In his memoirs of his presidency in the White House, former US President Barack Obama described German Chancellor Angela Merkel as a clever politician and a skilled strategy.

Yesterday, the first part of the memoirs of the former US president, titled "Promised Land," was published. In paragraphs of the book on foreign policy, Obama touches on several meetings that brought him and Angela Merkel together.

And Merkel said in Obama's diaries: "Merkel's eyes were large and bright blue, she could take turns expressing frustration, amusement, and hints of anxiety."

He added, "Merkel has stepped up systematically and systematically in the CDU, representing the center-right, with a mixture of organizational skill, strategic acumen, and unwavering patience."

In his memoirs, Obama indicated that the more he became acquainted with her, the more pleasant a person would be towards him. He added, "I found her trustworthy, honest, intellectually accurate, and friendly by nature."

He explained that he considers Europe as a bloc and a partner in support of the United States of America in the international scene, pointing out that this ability is closely linked to cooperation between Germany and France.

In general, the book explains Obama's political education and his journey to becoming the 44th president of the United States of America, as well as "the important moments of his historic first term as president," according to the publisher, Penguin Random House, in a statement.

In his memoirs, the former US president also covered his thoughts on the decision to kill (former Al Qaeda leader) Osama bin Laden, the global financial crisis, and the explosion of the offshore oil platform "Deep Water Horizon".

An honest novel

“I tried to present an honest account of my presidential campaign and the period I spent in office: the important events and the people who shaped it, my view of what I did correctly and the mistakes I made, and the political, economic and cultural forces that my team and I faced at the time,” Obama said in a statement released yesterday. And those that we are still facing as a state until now.

The former president, who took office before the current president, Donald Trump, between 2009 and 2017, added: "I tried to give readers an insight into the personal journey that (my wife) Michelle and I went through during those years."

The 768-page book will be released simultaneously in 25 languages, including German, and will be available as an audiobook to be read by former President Obama.

No date has been set for the presentation of the second and final part of Obama's memoirs.

Obama has written two books before, "Dreams from My Father," which was published in 1995, and "Audacity of Hope," which was published in 2006.
