- We have not seen this approach before anywhere where the region and the county administrative board are involved, says Henrik Wennesund who is project manager for Servicelyftet at Coompanion Kalmar county who initiated the project with the charging posts.

Work is currently underway to find suitable places in the countryside where it is possible to establish an infrastructure for charging and where there is an electricity network that works to keep it in operation.

To date, 200 locations have been located in all municipalities in the county, from Västervik in the north to Torsås in the south and on Öland.

Financing unclear

Right now, it is unclear what costs are involved or when the entire project is in port.

Each charging station costs between SEK 200,000 and SEK 500,000.

The hope is to find stakeholders who in the future want to collaborate with expanding the charging infrastructure in rural areas.

- Should we get started next year, we will hopefully be finished within two to three years, says Henrik Wennesund.

The project includes Coompanion Kalmar County, All of Sweden Kalmar County, Environmental Vehicles Sweden, the region and the County Administrative Board.

In the clip above, Henrik Wennesund explains why it is important that the entire county is involved in the investment.
