Distance learning in high school schools in Moscow was extended by two weeks - until December 6.

This was announced by the mayor of the capital Sergei Sobyanin.

“Distance learning is an effective means of preventing the spread of coronavirus.

Schoolchildren are less ill themselves and less likely to infect their elderly relatives.

Therefore, we decided to extend distance education in grades 6-11 for another two weeks - until December 6, 2020, ”the mayor said in a statement on the website.

According to him, this measure will save the health and lives of many Muscovites.

Earlier it became known that over the past two weeks, the coronavirus was detected daily in an average of 180 employees of educational institutions in Moscow, said the deputy head of the Moscow Department of Education and Science Anton Molev.

“Over the past two weeks, from November 1 to November 15, we have received information about the sick - on average, 180 employees daily, of which 67 are teachers,” said Molev, speaking at a meeting of the Moscow City Duma Commission on Education.

His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

The deputy head of the department noted that if it were not for the measures taken in the capital, the number of cases could have increased significantly.

“These numbers would be increased by 5 thousand people, and the number of sick students would be 7 thousand,” said Molev.

Recall that at the end of September, the Moscow authorities announced the extension of school holidays for the period from 5 to 18 October.

At the end of this period, students in grades 6-11 in Moscow schools were transferred to distance learning, while students in grades 1-5 returned to schools.

Later, the operation of this regime was extended until November 22, noting that the authorities will try "to do everything so that distance learning does not lead to a deterioration in the quality of education."

At the same time, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced on November 12 that the distance learning regime would most likely be extended for a longer period.

At the same time, the Moscow City Duma stressed that they do not plan to leave schoolchildren on distance learning.

As the head of the Moscow Department of Education Alexander Molotkov noted, all pre-professional education projects, all projects related to education will be extended.

“These projects will not be possible without the presence of children ... this is another proof that there are no secret plans to leave children on the remote.

This is a forced measure, I hope it will end soon, "RIA Novosti quotes Molotkov.
