The All Blacks, beaten for the first time in their history by Argentina (25-15), fell on Monday to third place in the World Rugby rankings, where the Welsh fell to 9th place.

South Africa, reigning world champion, calmly retains first place ahead of England.

The France of Fabien Galthié, who did not play this weekend, remains 4th.

But the bad deal is New Zealand: the All Blacks are now third, the worst ranking in their history, after a historic defeat to the Pumas on Saturday in Sydney.

The New Zealanders had already slipped to 3rd in the world after their defeat in the semifinals of the 2019 World Cup in Japan but were quickly back to 2nd place after beating Wales and winning the bronze medal.

The All Blacks were world No.1 for 507 weeks, between 2009 and 2019.

For Wales, dominated by Ireland (32-9) on Friday, this is the worst ranking since 2012: after a series of six straight defeats, the XV du Leek, a world No. 1 time in 2019 and title holder in the Six Nations Tournament, collapses and only slightly ahead of Japan to stay in the top 10.
