A 34-year-old man was tried Thursday afternoon before the Rennes Criminal Court for "evasion by a parent of his legal obligations compromising the health, safety, morals or education of his child".

On Christmas Eve last year, the father appealed to a stranger he met at the mosque to circumcise his only two-month-old baby, reports

The events took place in Noyal-Châtillon-sur-Seiche, a town located south of Rennes.

The individual had taken advantage of the absence of his wife to carry out the intervention against the payment of a sum of 400 euros in cash.

The father explained to the bar that he wanted to “cure” his son who had been in pain while urinating for several days.

The court sentenced him to ten months suspended prison sentence.

On the other hand, he retains his parental authority.
