Former Nigeria national team player Christian Ubudo said he was kidnapped after an exciting match for Nigeria in the African Nations Cup qualifiers (Cameroon 2022).

The player explained that he was kidnapped while driving in the southern Nigerian city of Warri, and said that the kidnappers had threatened to kill him.

He pointed out that one of the hijackers rode with him and asked him to drive while another car was following them, and he confirmed that he took the opportunity to stop hours after driving around the city, and surprised his captors before he quickly set off from them.

The 36-year-old said in remarks carried by Goal that the kidnappers told him that they had lost money in a bet on Nigeria and Sierra Leone, which took place last Friday in the African Nations Cup qualifiers.

The first half of that match ended with Nigeria leading 4-0, and the Sierra Leone team managed to achieve a dramatic draw after scoring four goals in the second half.

He played for a number of clubs in Italy, including Perugia, Fiorentina and Udinese, and he played for his country between 2003 and 2008.

Ubudo was kidnapped in the same area in 2012, and the police rescued him a day later, and his captors had demanded a ransom of about $ 188,000.
