The Statistics Center in Abu Dhabi said that the number of citizen births in Abu Dhabi last year reached 16,670 births, constituting 45% of the total number of births witnessed in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, whose number reached 37,104 births.

The center stated, in a report issued yesterday entitled "Births Statistics 2019", that the number of births, who were registered in the emirate, increased by 27.8% over the past 10 years, as their number was 29 thousand and 68 births in 2009.

According to the report, the general fertility rate showed that every 1000 citizen women of childbearing age (15 to 49 years) gave birth to 104.7 births, compared to 37.5 births for non-citizens, and the general fertility rate in the emirate was 52.7 births per 1000 women.

The highest fertility rates were among female citizens in the age group between 30 and 34 years, followed by from 25 to 29 years, then female citizens in the age group from 35 to 39 years, while female citizens recorded the lowest fertility rate between 15 and 19 years and between 45 and 49 years.

When comparing the rate between regions, Abu Dhabi witnessed the highest general fertility rate, at 111.6 births per 1000 citizen women of childbearing age, compared to 37.9 births for every non-citizen woman, and the rate reached its lowest rate in Al Dhafra, reaching 72 births per 1000 citizen women, and 35.2 One birth per 1000 non-citizen women.

The report stated that the total fertility rate in the emirate last year, which expresses the average number of children that a woman may give birth to during her reproductive life, amounted to 1.5 births, and the rate for female citizens reached 3.5 births, compared to one child for non-citizens.
