A man in his thirties was fatally stabbed Friday evening in Saint-Etienne by the ex-friend of his companion, who surrendered after having taken refuge for several hours with the young woman and their son, has we learned on Saturday from the Saint-Etienne prosecutor's office.

"Following the intervention of a negotiator of the Raid de Lyon, the alleged murderer, a Stéphanois in his thirties, released his ex-partner and their six-year-old boy, before taking himself prisoner and to be taken into custody, ”declared the Saint-Etienne public prosecutor, David Charmatz, who opened an investigation for“ murder followed by kidnapping ”.

The drama took place around 8:30 p.m. in the young woman's apartment, in the Rivière district, to which the respondent had gone for a still undetermined reason.

The latter then struck several stab wounds on the new companion of his ex-concubine who was then present.

The attacker then deposited on the landing of the home the victim, then seriously injured, also aged about thirty years and from Puy-en-Velay (Haute-Loire), before locking himself up with his ex- concubine and their son.

Picked up by neighbors who called for help, the injured man later died in their apartment from his injuries.

After nearly two hours of exchange with a negotiator, the madman surrendered to the police around 1:30 am, according to the prosecutor.

An autopsy of the victim is scheduled for early next week.
