Last week, 394 new cases of covid-19 were noted through testing in the county and this week 615. But those figures are difficult to compare with what it looked like this spring because more tests are being conducted today than at the beginning of the pandemic.

The peak in terms of pressure on healthcare in Sörmland was made at the beginning of April.

On both 5 and 6 April, 150 Sörml residents were treated at the county's hospital, of whom 32 received intensive care.

The top listing for how many were cared for at iva was made a few days later, on April 8, with 33 people.

At the beginning of April, the top records were made for how many people were cared for in hospitals in the county.

on April 5 and 6, 150 people with covid-19 were in hospital.

On April 8, 33 people were hospitalized, which is the highest figure to date.

On Friday, the region announced that 33 people are being cared for in hospitals in the county and that seven of them are receiving intensive care.

The last time a similar figure was reported was at the end of June.

The death toll is also lower now than before during the pandemic.

A total of 173 people with covid-19 have died at the county's hospital.

168 of them were during the period March to July.

The remaining five have taken place after the summer.

Great concern about increase

But despite the fact that the figures are currently lower than in the spring, there is concern that the situation may worsen.

Last week, local restrictions were imposed on the county in hopes of slowing the spread of infection.

Signar Mäkitalo has previously said that it may take time before the measures show any effect.

- I expect that we will get increased infection rates, increased number of people on IVA and in care in the next 2.5 weeks, Signar Mäkitalo said to Helgstudion on Sunday.
