A 33-year-old man was sentenced this Friday, before the Criminal Court of Béziers (Hérault) to 18 months in prison, 12 months of driving license suspension and a 1,000 euros fine after a chase with the police, to Agde, on November 10.

The thirty-something has already been sentenced five times between 2007 and 2019, in particular for acts of violence and drug trafficking.

On November 10, the man, who was driving without insurance, refused to comply with a check and led the police into a mad rush.

The police had managed to puncture two of his tires, but that had not stopped him.

He had abandoned his vehicle a few minutes later, and had run away.

"The police had managed to catch up with him, but they had only succeeded in controlling him with great difficulty after having made use of an electric pulse pistol twice," reports Raphaël Balland, the public prosecutor. from Béziers.

During this eventful arrest, one of the police officers was injured, suffering from a broken finger, for which he was arrested for two months.

In police custody, the man had explained that he wanted at all costs to avoid being checked, for fear of being fined because he did not have with him a travel exemption certificate, mandatory during this confinement, indicates the representative of the prosecution.
