The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, said that his country was under pressure to recognize Israel, stressing that his country would not recognize it unless there was a settlement that would satisfy the Palestinians.

Khan indicated - in a TV interview - that Israel has a strong influence on the United States of America, and that Washington's Middle East policy has been affected by Israel, especially during the era of outgoing President Donald Trump.

"For me, at least there is no possibility of recognizing Israel unless there is a settlement that satisfies the Palestinians," he added. "We will not recognize Israel."

He added that he could not say anything about the countries that recognized Israel, referring to the UAE and Bahrain.

"Because she is our friend and we don't want to offend her."

In August, several Pakistani cities witnessed widespread protests after US President Trump announced on the 15th of the same month that the UAE would normalize with Israel, and less than a month later he announced Bahraini normalization with Israel.

The Pakistan Milli Yakjhati Council, a political-religious alliance, issued a call to the Pakistani people to go out in protest demonstrations, to denounce what it described as the controversial deal between Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv.

The Emirati and Bahrain normalization agreement with Israel was met as a "betrayal" of Jerusalem and the Palestinian cause.
