The Saudi authorities said that a fire broke out on Thursday evening near a floating unloading platform belonging to the petroleum products distribution station in Jizan, south of the Kingdom, and added that it resulted from the destruction of two booby-trapped boats launched by the Houthi group in Yemen.
The Saudi authorities confirmed that the fire did not result in any injuries or loss of life, describing it as a "sabotage act affecting maritime navigation and exposing regional waters to major environmental disasters."
She added that it is "a criminal and terrorist act targeting the security of petroleum exports and the stability of energy supplies."
Drones
And earlier on Thursday, Saudi TV said that the Saudi-Emirati coalition had intercepted and destroyed drones launched by the Houthis towards the kingdom.
On Thursday evening, the coalition announced the destruction of an explosive drone launched by the Houthis towards southern Saudi Arabia, and said it was the fourth within 24 hours.
The spokesman for the coalition forces, Turki Al-Maliki, said, in a statement published by the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA), that "the joint coalition forces managed, Thursday evening, to intercept and destroy an unmanned explosive plane."
He added, "The plane was launched by the terrorist Houthi militia in a systematic and deliberate manner to target civilian objects and civilians in the southern region."
Earlier Thursday, the coalition announced, through 3 separate statements, the destruction of 3 Houthi drones, two of which were in Yemeni airspace.
Threatening military and economic sites
On Wednesday, the Houthi group threatened to target vital military and economic sites in Saudi Arabia in the coming days, calling on foreign companies in the Kingdom to stay away from these facilities.
Frequently, the Houthis fire ballistic missiles, missiles and drones at Saudi areas, some of which left human and material losses, and the group says that these attacks come in response to the ongoing coalition raids against it in separate areas of Yemen.
Yemen has been suffering an ongoing war between the pro-government forces and the Houthi militants, who control several governorates, including the capital, Sanaa, since 2014.
Since March 2015, an Arab military coalition, led by the neighboring Saudi Arabia, has supported forces loyal to the Yemeni government against the Houthis, backed by Iran.
