• Venezuela.Leopoldo López: "I did not want to leave Venezuela. But I will return and we will liberate the country"

Felipe González has hardened his position in front of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero during a conversation in

Nueva Economía Forum

with the opposition leader Leopoldo López and the writer Mario Vargas Llosa.

Without quoting him, González fired directly at Nicolás Maduro's ally: "Those who say they know Venezuela so well, that they know it better than I do, let them not say the day after [the fall of the revolution] that they did not know just because they know [what is happening in Venezuela], "he stressed.

"As happened with his namesake, Nicolae Ceaucescu (Romanian dictator who was shot after 22 years of tyrannical regime, the same ones that Chavismo has been in power), Maduro is not that far away, we don't know when it will be, but he is not so far. away ", predicted the former leader of the PSOE.

The telematic meeting exposed

the distance that separates the two former presidents of the Spanish Government

, into opposing sides despite the fact that both the PSOE and the Popular Will (VP), party of López and the president in charge recognized by Spain and by 60 democracies, are part of the Socialist International.

Both González and Zapatero maintain or have maintained ties with López, fled from the clutches of the Bolivarian regime after being a prisoner since 2014 and a refugee as a guest at the residence of the Spanish ambassador for 18 months.

González participated in López's defense during the parody of the trial held against him in Caracas and Zapatero managed to get him a house for jail in 2017.

Since his first appearance in Venezuela at the end of 2015, Zapatero has maintained a drift that has finally led him not only to embrace revolutionary propaganda, but also to defend it in different forums.

The socialist leader is also part of

the Puebla Group

, a group of progressive, populist and revolutionary leaders of Latin America.

During his trip to the inauguration of the new president of Bolivia, Luis Arce, Vice President Pablo Iglesias released a manifesto among whose signatories is Zapatero, which caused the demarcation of the Spanish government.

In it, several leftist leaders blame the great evils of the continent on supposed ultra-right plans, forgetting the collapse suffered by Venezuela and the iron dictatorships in Cuba and Nicaragua.

"They (the Chavistas) are a pandemic, a crisis worse than Covid and polluting all of Latin America. The most destructive tyrant there has been in Latin America," accused González, who is convinced that free and democratic elections would end with the dictatorship and would put a stop to "this biblical exodus that has caused the tyranny of Maduro."

Instead,

González avoided any criticism of Pedro Sánchez's political handling of Venezuela

.

"The lethal nature of Maduro's tyranny for Venezuela and toxic for the democratic world has no parallel or comparison with anything. It seems to me an abuse of this instrumentalization in which I do not intend to fall. In Spain all the democrats, starting with the president of the government, we must be together to regain freedom for Venezuelan citizens, an essential condition for Venezuela to regain its course, "warned the Andalusian leader.

Guaidó's presidential commissioner supported these words, recalling that "Pedro Sánchez told me that he is committed to the cause of freedom" and that he believes in "the broadest possible coalition to attend to the policy towards Venezuela."

Doubts about Vargas Llosa

Vargas Llosa did air certain doubts about his belief that "in the coalition (of Government) in Spain there may be sympathies to what Venezuela represented", although at the same time he stressed that "the policy up to now has been coherent and based on democratic principles: recognize Guaidó and (make) friendship with the Venezuelan opposition. Any effort to obtain elections will be supported by the Government because the vast majority of Spaniards feel in solidarity with the Venezuelan opposition's struggle, "stated the author of" La goat party ".

The González-Vargas Llosa tandem already participated in the presentation of the book "Prisoner, but free", written by López in the Ramo Verde military prison.

The VP coordinator recalled his contacts with the main Spanish parties since his arrival in Madrid, with the exception of Podemos, although he avoided any criticism.

He also applauded the inauguration in Bolivia: "That same opportunity (the holding of free and fair elections" is what we are asking for ”.

Guaidó's commissioner took advantage of his appearance to explain the characteristics of the

popular consultation

scheduled by the presidency in charge and the democratic Parliament for December 12, six days later than the fraudulent votes to elect Maduro's Assembly.

"We are aware that it is a logistical challenge because Venezuela is paralyzed by the pandemic, without gasoline, without means, without internet ... This call is being made hand-to-hand and house-to-house with the aim of never losing the hope, "he concluded.
