• Education: PSOE partners try to eradicate Religion from the educational curriculum

  • Education: The Government passes a law that leaves the Castilian in distress, suffocates the concerted and gives more facilities to students

Ciudadanos has offered the Government two proposals to compromise the Celaá Law in which either the mention of Spanish as the official language of the

State

and vehicle of education

is included in the law

or it is shielded that 25% of the classes are taught in Spanish in communities with a co-official language.

In the middle of the tug-of-war of the

Budgets

, and when Inés Arrimadas has conditioned her support for the Government to guarantee the presence of Castilian in the educational reform, the oranges have sent

two amendments

to

Moncloa

and are awaiting a response.

So far they have not received it.

The spokesperson for Citizen Education in Congress,

Marta Martín

, said during the Commission that her party had presented two transaction proposals to the controversial additional provision

38

.

In one it is stated that "the educational administrations shall guarantee the right of the students to receive education in Spanish, the official language of the State, and in the other co-official languages in their respective territories."

"Spanish and the co-official languages are considered vehicular languages, in accordance with the

Spanish Constitution

, the

Statutes of Autonomy

and applicable regulations", he adds.

It is the original wording, as approved by the

Council of Ministers.

Furthermore, Cs has sent another alternative proposal to Moncloa in case the first one does not convince them.

It is about assuming that there is no reference to vehicle status or officiality but adding a phrase that says: "Additionally, at least 25% of the teaching load must be taught in Spanish during school hours in all stages, regardless of the linguistic model determined by each autonomous community ".

Martín has said that "for the moment, the PSOE has not accepted the amendments."

"Unless the Commission accepts it, until last night the PSOE rejected that transaction," he pointed out.

The mention of Spanish as the official and vehicular language of education has disappeared from

Lomloe

.

It is one of the main novelties of the reform and stalls the negotiation of the coalition government with Citizens.

The PSOE argues that nothing essentially changes, because the articles continue to refer to the Constitution.

This Friday the deputies vote in

Commission

on more than a thousand amendments to the reform during a marathon day, with the idea of passing the law in plenary session next Thursday and having it already approved at the beginning of next year.

The opinion of the presentation will be voted on at the end of the day, although the articles may still undergo modifications in the coming days, until it reaches the Plenary.

Martín has denounced that the law "does not have democratic guarantees" and presents a "processing defect", for which he has anticipated that they are going to denounce it.

"We present alternatives so that there is no doubt about our willingness to reach an agreement," he stressed.
