Ireland beat Wales 32-9 on Friday in Dublin to open the Autumn Nations Cup, a new rugby competition bringing together eight teams, those from the Six Nations and two guests, Fiji and Georgia.

This inaugural victory of the XV of Clover was however tarnished by the exit of captain Johnny Sexton, who celebrated his 100th selection, from the 29th minute, visibly affected in the hamstrings.

Thanks in particular to two trials by Roux and Lowe, the Irish returned to success after their defeat in Paris at the end of October (35-27) which had put an end to their hopes of winning the Six Nations Tournament.

The black series continues, however, for the Welsh who have a sixth consecutive defeat.
