The political crisis that followed the November 3 elections continues in the United States, as Donald Trump, the president and the losing Republican candidate, insists on not recognizing the victory of his Democratic opponent, Joe Biden.

While diplomatic sources reported that the US administration is preventing the president-elect from receiving congratulatory messages from abroad, the Democratic Party warned against poisoning the democratic process and urged Republicans to forget the loss of Trump, and direct efforts to combat the emerging Corona virus.

CNN quoted an informed source as saying that messages from world leaders congratulating Joe Biden on victory are currently piling up at the State Department, because the Trump administration has prevented the delivery of messages to the president-elect.

The network indicated that this move is contrary to the traditions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as it has been working to facilitate communications between the winning president and world leaders.

She added that many world leaders began sending messages to Badin since the end of last week, but the president-elect was "prevented from taking advantage of the ministry's capabilities by a decision of the Trump administration."

She explained that the reason for this action is that the outgoing president does not recognize Biden’s victory, "and dozens of messages have not been received yet."

Likewise, the Trump administration is preventing the president-elect from accessing the daily intelligence briefings that Biden provides, which is contrary to the tradition of transferring power in the United States.

Poisoning of democracy

For his part, accused the leader of the Democratic minority in the Senate, Chuck Schumer, Thursday, of what he called "poisoning" democracy by refusing to acknowledge Biden's victory.

"The Republicans in Congress are deliberately sowing doubt about our elections because they fear Trump," the senator told a news conference in Washington.

"We have just completed presidential elections that witnessed division and fierce competition, but instead of working to unify the country so that we fight our common enemy, Covid-19, Republicans in Congress spread conspiracy theories, deny reality, and poison the well of our democracy," he added.

Despite the media announcing Biden's victory on Saturday, Trump has so far refused to acknowledge his defeat in a historic break with American political traditions.

While a handful of Republicans quickly acknowledged the victory of a Democratic candidate, such as Senator Mitt Romney, many remained silent or publicly supported the outgoing president's allegations of election "theft".

"This morning I have a very simple message to the Republican elders: The election is over. The (results) are not close. President Trump has been defeated. Biden will be the next president of the United States," Schumer said from Congress.

Democratic Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, participated in the press conference, and in turn called for the approval of the polling results.

"Now the people have expressed their opinion, Biden has won and Camala Harris will be the first female vice president," she said.

Pandemic first

, Pelosi said, "The president and the Senate have ignored the death toll, and now continue to ignore the high numbers of infections."

She added: Our country recorded 144 thousand new cases of Coronavirus yesterday, "and this would threaten the capacity of hospitals."

The Speaker said that the postponement of securing the presidential transition "is another issue, but we are now talking about fighting the pandemic."

For her part, a White House spokeswoman told Fox News, "We are following all laws regarding the peaceful transfer of power to the potential administration."

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has pledged a smooth transfer of power "to a second term for Trump" in strong support for Trump's adherence to being the legal winner of the vote.
