US Donald Trump bans any business with TikTok and China denounces "political repression"
The United States government suspended the ban on TikTok in its territory on Thursday after a
court ruling in favor
of the Chinese social network.
The Commerce Department officially announced that it had suspended the ban, which was
based on national security issues
, in compliance with a court order issued by a federal judge on October 30.
"The department is complying with the terms of that order," the statement said, adding that
the ban "has been imposed and will not go into effect pending new legal decisions
.
