The process of excellence began in the UAE more than two decades ago, starting with the Dubai Quality Award launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in 1994, and then successive programs for excellence and quality at the local level, with the aim of promoting the adoption of the culture of excellence as a basis for the advancement of government work, Up to the establishment of the Sheikh Khalifa Government Excellence Program in 2009.

In 2015, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum launched the UAE Government Excellence System, and its design was based on the most important global government development programs and initiatives that were adopted and applied in the UAE government, to form an extension of the journey of excellence that the country went through, and to be a reference Globally for governments seeking leadership in government work.

The process of excellence and quality began in 1994 with the launch of the Dubai Quality Award, then the launch of the Dubai Program for Excellence in Governmental Performance in 1997, followed by the Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award in 1999, and in 2004 the government of Ras Al Khaimah announced the launch of the Sheikh Saqr Program for Government Excellence, while the Abu Dhabi Performance Award was launched. Government Excellence Program in 2007, and later in 2008, the Ajman Excellence Program was launched.

The year 2009 witnessed the launch of the Emirates Award for Excellence in Governmental Performance, which lasted three cycles in the years 2010, 2012 and 2014, and then His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, in 2015 directed to change the name of the award, to become the Mohammed bin Rashid Award for Excellence in Governmental Performance .

The first model of excellence

The year 2017 witnessed the adoption of the UAE Government Excellence System, which includes nine specialized international organizations, to become the first model for excellence in the government sector worldwide, prompting many countries to adopt it as a flexible model that adapts to different governments and their needs, and the system has also been applied in all entities.
