The death of a child drowning in a sewage system in Ras Al Khaimah

A 6-year-old citizen, Rashid Hamad, died after falling into a sewage drain yesterday evening at his family's home in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.

The uncle of the deceased child, Sultan Rashid, told Al-Emirates Today that the accident occurred at eight o'clock yesterday, Wednesday, when the child went out to play in the yards of the house before his mother lost track of him inside the house.


He explained that the mother went out to search for her child and did not find what caused her to call her husband, who brought his siblings to look for him, and pointed out that they immediately searched for him in the sewage septic system inside the yard, as its cover is partially open to avoid due to maintenance work.


He added, that he was searched twice inside the swallow hole and nothing was found, as it was contacted with the competent authorities that attended you to the place and a long-sized wooden was inserted, and then the father felt the presence of a solid object below, which prompted them to move the wood in a strong and continuous manner, which led to the float of the child's body to up.


He explained, that artificial respiration was performed in order to save his life, but he died drowning in sewage water, and continued that the search and rescue operation of the child lasted about an hour, and that the body was transferred to the hospital to take the necessary action by the competent authorities, and his funeral was carried out this evening amidst Extreme sadness from his parents and family for being their eldest and only child
