November 12, 2020 "This pandemic blocks the health system. Right now we, in Puglia,

, we have more or less 140-150 people in intensive care. If we fail to stop the infection and in the within 20 days should double, we would have 300 people in intensive care. It means that to manage these Covid patients we have to block the operating theaters ".

This was stated by Pierluigi Lopalco, Apulian Health Councilor, during a live Facebook organized by Uil Puglia.

. The whole sector of the health organization is under stress. We have to grit our teeth and let this storm pass," he added.

"We are finalizing the agreement with general practitioners to carry out antigenic swabs", announced the professor, but there is still no agreement between the Puglia Region and the trade unions : general practitioners ask, among other things, for facilities made available by the local health authorities to carry out rapid tests.

"Tomorrow we will probably have a meeting with the trade union parties", concluded the commissioner.

"In my opinion it is impossible that before at least 4-5 months there could be a distribution" of the anti Covid vaccine "on an acceptable scale, which does not mean vaccine for everyone, but for at least a part of the population at risk".

"If - he added - it was really effective in 90% of cases it would be a bomb".

"I always take announcements with a grain of salt - he concluded - because they are used to raise the stock market prices, but the speed with which we are proceeding with the experimentation is impressive". 

Deaths from Covid in Puglia are rapidly increasing: from 27 yesterday to 39 today.

1,434 cases of contagion are instead, compared to 8,936 tests carried out.

The cases are divided into 679 in the province of Bari, 54 in the province of Brindisi, 150 in Barletta-Andria-Trani, 232 in the province of Foggia, 121 Lecce, 183 Taranto, 15 residents outside the region.

The 39 deaths were recorded 10 in the province of Bari, 8 in Barletta-Andria-Trani, 4 in Brindisi, 12 in the province of Foggia, 1 in the province of Lecce, 4 in the province of Taranto.
