At Mariebergsgården, there are currently nine residents and four staff who have been confirmed infected.

In addition, about ten people are suspected of being infected, but they have not yet been tested.

This was announced by the municipality of Nyköping during a press conference on Wednesday.

- We take the situation seriously and we assume that it will increase in the near future, both among the elderly and employees and managers.

However, none of the infected are seriously ill, says Jan Holmlund, division manager for social care in Nyköping.

Great concern among the staff

The spread of infection at Mariebergsgården took off last week through one person.

Since then, efforts have been made to limit the spread of corona further.

But the anxiety among the staff has only increased.

- There is a huge concern based on the second wave that has now arisen.

We offer employees that you can put your concerns into words so you get support and help on the side, says Jan Holmlund.

Resources are available - right now

According to the municipality of Nyköping, there are currently good conditions for redirecting employees when needed by, for example, closing certain municipal operations and thus freeing up staff who can help where needed.

- In the short term, we have good conditions, but over time it becomes tiring, because this group of employees has already worked hard for a long period and may not have had the opportunity to recover to the extent we wanted.

So it will quickly become a strain, says Jan Holmlund.

In addition to Mariebergsgården, there are 27 suspects infected within the entire municipality's care operations.

However, these are only symptoms and the municipality is now waiting for the opportunity to be able to test as many as possible.
