A fire of voluntary origin destroyed a classroom on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday in a school in Argenteuil (Val-d'Oise) before being brought under control by the firefighters, we learned this Wednesday from corroborating sources.

Adjoining classrooms have also been degraded.

Firefighters intervened shortly after 4 a.m. at La Croix Duny school, where fire was ravaging a kindergarten room.

The fire was extinguished by means of a hose, "the rescue action prevented the spread of the disaster," firefighters told AFP.

According to a police source, the first elements support the thesis of an arson.

"A window was broken and pyrotechnic devices were found on the spot," she said.
