  • The shops of Roubaix will have to close completely at night.

  • A sort of curfew imposed after the observation of abuses around certain grocery stores and restaurants.

  • Groups of people in the evening without any respect for barrier gestures were regularly reported to the authorities.

Roubaisian curfew.

From this Tuesday evening, all shops in Roubaix will have to close their doors between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

A very targeted measure which comes after the police services have observed abuses in the application of the rules of containment to fight against the coronavirus epidemic, we learned from the prefecture.

From now on, shops, especially general food or fast food restaurants, have the obligation to lower their curtains at night in Roubaix.

A measure that even applies to take-out or home delivery activities.

The only ones to escape the new rule are pharmacies, medical stores and gas stations.

Groups "without respecting barrier gestures"

A kind of very sharp curfew which was decreed after the observation made by the police of the “abusive and diverted uses” of the exceptional travel certificates.

According to the prefecture, groups of people "without respecting barrier gestures" take place regularly, from 9 pm around certain shops, especially in downtown Roubaix.

Similar facts were also noted on the side of Alma, Epeule and the Cul-de-Four district.

Last Saturday, the police even had to close a clandestine playroom in which there were about thirty people.

A situation which makes the mayor of Roubaix, Guillaume Delbar jump, especially since his city still had an incidence rate of 1,144 cases per 100,000 inhabitants at the beginning of November, that is to say one hundred times higher than the vigilance threshold.

The elected representative therefore asked the prefect to take an order requiring businesses to close between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

In view of the health situation in Roubaix, the Regional Health Agency (ARS) also deemed it essential to take new measures such as “limiting social interactions” and banning “delivery and take-out activities” the night.
