As Putin noted, for the first time in history Russia acted “not in the role of a catch-up, but itself offered such models” of weapons that were years and even decades ahead of their counterparts.

“And some simply have no equal in the world and, most likely, will not have analogues for a long time.

However, using the intellectual potential, our scientific schools, the groundwork, the necessary infrastructure, we do not intend to get involved, to be drawn into the exhausting arms race.

We will not do this.

And we have no such need today, ”the head of state said.

Earlier, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov urged not to escalate the rocket arms race.

The diplomat announced Moscow's readiness for joint efforts to de-escalate the situation in Europe against the backdrop of the termination of the INF Treaty.
