The grenade was found earlier this year during cable work at the shipyard, and on Tuesday, scuba divers were on site to investigate whether it is harmless or sharp.

A sharp-charged grenade of the type found could then contain around 95 kilos of explosives.

- Several dives have been carried out, but it has still not been possible to determine whether it is harmless.

That is why we describe it as sharp, and it will be rendered harmless on Tuesday evening, says Jimmie Adamsson, communicator at the Third Naval Battle Flotilla.

On Tuesday evening at 19:00, the grenade will be detonated, and a number of protective measures will be taken.

- We empty the quays at the naval base, and place a raft over the grenade with a so-called explosive mat that catches splinters.

According to the Armed Forces, there is no danger to the public.

- We do not really think it is sharp, because it is where it is.

But we have to do this for safety.
