10 November 2020 Italy ranks second to last in Europe for the use of structural funds.

The annual report of the European Court of Auditors points out this.

Against an average absorption in the EU of 40%, Italy used about 30% of the available structural investment funds (ESI) in 2019.

The Court points out that absorption rates vary considerably from one Fund to another.

For example, the absorption rate of the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), with a budget of € 100 billion, reached 50%, a higher rate than the other ESI funds, while the absorption rate of the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (Feamp), with a budget of € 5.7 billion, reached 29%.
