10 November 2020 Former Minister of Tourism of Malta, Konrad Mizzi, was arrested by the police after being questioned by the Economic Crimes Unit.

The Times of Malta reports it.

Mizzi resigned as minister a year ago after the developments in the investigation into the murder of investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia and the arrest of entrepreneur Yorgen Fenech.

In June, he was also expelled from the Labor Party.

Her downfall is linked to her involvement in the Panama Papers revelations and relations with 17 Black, Fenech's company, accused of plotting the assassination of the reporter in 2017. A year before she was murdered, Caruana Galizia had revealed that Mizzi and the premier's former chief of staff, Keith Schembri, owned offshore secret companies, later confirmed by leaks from the Panama Papers.

"Too late," the journalist's son Matthew Caruana Galizia commented on Twitter.

"We had to remove three police commissioners, a prosecutor general, a premier, several ministers and many other officials and in the meantime my mother was murdered."
