Fighting against lung cancer, a disease he had made public, the deputy for the 3rd constituency of Ille-et-Vilaine François André died on February 11 at the age of 52.

A tribute will be paid to him this Tuesday in the National Assembly by his fellow deputies.

At the end of the questions to the government, the President of the Assembly Richard Ferrand will deliver a funeral eulogy in memory of the member for Rennes.

The tribute will be broadcast live on the Parliamentary Channel.

Born in Pontivy (Morbihan), François André was very early involved in politics by joining the Socialist Party at the age of 20.

He was first elected in 2001 alongside the mayor of Rennes Edmond Hervé as sports deputy, before becoming departmental councilor in 2008, then deputy in 2012. The former socialist approached La République en Marche in 2017. Supported by the presidential party, he was easily re-elected in his constituency, obtaining nearly 66% of the vote.
