China News Service, Beijing, November 9th (Reporter Yan Xiaohong) Professor Wang Zheng, the lead drafter of the industry standard for the "Quality Control of Excimer Laser Corneal Refractive Surgery" issued by the Ministry of Health, and a doctoral supervisor of the Aier School of Ophthalmology, Central South University pointed out Statistics show that among the population over 35 years old in my country, there are 390 million people with presbyopia problems.

Presbyopia correction methods and high-standard surgical procedures synchronized with the international are urgently needed by the industry and even hundreds of millions of presbyopia patients.

The reporter was informed on the 9th that following the release of new products for eye-removing surgery in June this year and opening the "removal-of-sight era" for presbyopia correction in my country, the Chinese ophthalmology institution Aier Ophthalmology recently released the "Expert Consensus on Clinical Application of Eye-New Lens Surgery" Lens surgery: the refractive lens replacement surgery for presbyopia correction), dedicated to providing scientific and theoretical basis for the safety, accuracy, and standardization of the clinical application of presbyopia surgery.

When the lens of the eye is gradually aging, the ability to adjust light is weakened, and vision declines and near-sight difficulties occur, it is commonly known as presbyopia, or presbyopia.

Studies have shown that presbyopia usually occurs around 38 years old, and the peak incidence is around 42-44 years old.

Experts say that the number of presbyopia patients and the number of corrections are seriously unequal due to cognitive deficits.

Although there are a large number of presbyopia, most people do not have a correct understanding of presbyopia, and generally do not actively seek medical treatment because of presbyopia problems. The common practice is to choose not to wear reading glasses or wear them at will.

At present, there are two scientific treatment methods for presbyopia. One is to go to professional ophthalmology medical institutions to fit presbyopia; the other is for presbyopia patients with high-quality vision needs, and presbyopia surgery can be selected.

Professor Zhou Jin, a member of the Sichuan Ophthalmology Committee, said that presbyopia surgery mainly includes corneal surgery, scleral surgery and lens surgery.

The expert consensus released this time is the consensus of refractive lens replacement for presbyopia correction.

The report started from six aspects: the background of consensus formation, the indications, contraindications, preoperative preparations, intraoperative precautions, and postoperative follow-up of the new Lens operation.

Professor Zhang Jinsong, standing member of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association and director of the Institute of Cataract and Intraocular Lenses of Aier Eye Hospital Group, pointed out that the establishment of this expert consensus is also to maximize the protection of patients to obtain good full-range (far, middle, and near) vision and visual quality after surgery.

Experts agree that Jingxin Lens surgery is more suitable for presbyopic patients with thin cornea, high myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, early cataract symptoms, high requirements for the full distance, medium, and near vision, or a strong desire to remove lenses. Professor Zhou Jin also emphasized that presbyopia surgery, like myopia surgery, cannot be performed by everyone. It must undergo precise, comprehensive, and systematic pre-operative examinations to eliminate relevant contraindications before it can be performed. (Finish)
