As noted, the incident occurred at about 17:30 Moscow time while escorting a convoy of a Russian military base in Armenia in the airspace near the Armenian settlement of Yeraskh near the Azerbaijani border.

“The Russian Mi-24 helicopter was subjected to fire from the ground from MANPADS,” the message says.

As it is emphasized, as a result of the "missile hit, the helicopter" lost control and fell in the highlands of Armenia.

“Two crew members were killed, one was evacuated with moderate injuries to the home base,” the ministry added.

At present, the command of the 102nd Russian military base is establishing the ownership of those shooting at the helicopter.
