Russian Foreign Ministry commented on the incident with the helicopter shot down by Azerbaijan

“We assess the fact that Baku immediately admitted its guilt is positive,” the Foreign Ministry said.

The ministry added that the Azerbaijani side assured Moscow that a prompt investigation of the incident would be carried out and the perpetrators would be punished.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the Russian Mi-24 helicopter was shot down from MANPADS over the territory of Armenia outside the combat zone near the border with Azerbaijan.

As a result, two people died, one more was injured.

Later, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said that the Azerbaijani side accidentally shot down a Russian Mi-24 helicopter.

Baku has apologized for the tragic incident and added that it is ready to pay compensation to the Russian side.
