The Hebrew newspaper Yediot Aharonot reported Monday that an Israeli plane flew over Makkah Al-Mukarramah during its flight to India.

This came in a tweet by the newspaper's aviation editor Itay Blumenthal, which was reposted by Yedioth Ahronoth on her Twitter account.

Blumenthal wrote, "Very beautiful: An Israeli plane took off yesterday from Ben Gurion Airport (Tel Aviv) to India via Ethiopia and did not give up on visiting the skies of Jeddah and Makkah in Saudi Arabia.

The Israeli journalist attached the tweet with a documentation of a company that tracks the movement of planes, showing the plane flying in a straight path over the Red Sea before turning left and passing over the cities of Jeddah and Makkah.

While there was no immediate comment from the Saudi authorities on the matter.

At the end of last August, the first Israeli commercial flight to Abu Dhabi, in the UAE, took off from Ben Gurion Airport, via Saudi airspace.

The plane was carrying two delegations, an Israeli headed by National Security Adviser Meir Ben Shabat, and an American headed by Jared Kushner, the chief adviser to the US President.

At the time, the official Israeli Broadcasting Corporation said that Saudi Arabia had agreed to pass the plane through its airspace.

On September 23, aircraft tracking data showed an Israeli airliner flying over Saudi airspace on its way to Bahrain.

Israel signed two agreements with the UAE and Bahrain to normalize relations in mid-September at the White House, under the auspices of the outgoing US President Donald Trump.
