Live: Last minute on the coronavirus
The Minister of Justice of the Community of Madrid, Enrique López, has affirmed this Monday that the Government of Isabel Díaz Ayuso would support a home confinement applied in areas of Spain in which a high incidence of Covid-19 is registered,
if it is demonstrated that "the measure is proportional"
and is based "on scientific criteria".
In an interview with RNE, López has rejected that
the central executive unilterally impose a criterion
as happened with the declaration of the state of alarm in Madrid on October 9, which he did "unjustifiably" for the perimeter closure of the region.
According to the head of Justice of the PP,
this decision caused an increase in
internal
mobility
, as the restrictions for basic health areas imposed by the Madrid Government fell, and that they act "specifically" on the most infected areas to combat "better" the virus.
"Perimeter closures, such as the one that the government imposed on the October 12 bridge, in large towns,
do not have the desired effectiveness,"
López said.
Therefore, the Community of Madrid advocates continuing with its plan of restrictions for health areas, imposed since Monday in 41 areas, with 8 municipalities closed in their entirety: Chinchón, Villaconejos, San Martín de Valdeiglesias, Pelayos de la Presa, Moralzarzal, Alpedrete, Galapagar and the basic health areas of Sierra de Guadarrama and Collado Villalba.
López has defended that the Community's strategy, together with the practice of antigen testing in "massive screenings", have favored Madrid
reducing its incidence below 340 cases
per 100,000 inhabitants, as well as "individual responsibility" of Madrid society in general terms.
Regarding the closure of the hotel business, López has rejected that it will take place with the current data recorded by the region, since
"they would not justify" the stoppage of activity.
For now, it will continue to be subject to the restriction of activity at night from 00:00 to 6:00 by the state of alarm decree and capacity limitations, while affirming that it would support a total closure if the data and scientific evidence support it. .
