  According to reports, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare previously launched an investigation into companies whose performance has deteriorated due to the new crown epidemic.

The survey results show that from the end of January 2020 to November 6, 2020, a total of 70,242 people across Japan were fired due to the new crown epidemic.

  According to the report, since this figure is obtained through statistics of employment agencies in various places, the actual number of unemployed persons may be more.

  From the industry perspective (data as of October 30), there are 12,979 people in the manufacturing industry who are unemployed due to the new crown epidemic; 10,445 people in the catering industry; 9,378 people in the retail industry; 8,614 people in the accommodation industry; and some other industry workers.

  Regarding the current situation, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare stated that it will promote the improvement of employment by calling on companies to maintain employment relationships and flexibly using "employment adjustment subsidies".
