It was on Wednesday evening, November 4, that a police patrol assisted in a truck accident on the E4, north of Lagan.

One of the police officers directing the traffic was seriously injured on the spot and had to be taken to hospital.

His condition was life-threatening and he was later taken to the university hospital for further care.

New information

After the incident, the police reported that the policeman had been hit by a truck that deviated from the scene.

The incident was classified as causing grievous bodily harm and unlawfully deviating from the traffic accident scene.

But now new information has emerged.

- The policeman was not hit by a truck, says Sylvia Sjöblom, head of preliminary investigation at the police.

The police were injured in the service but not due to a collision.

- The truck came so fast and so close that the policeman chose to flee the roadway.

Hen was not hit by the truck but was injured in the escape, she says.

Remaining in hospital

At present, the police do not suspect any crime, but the investigation has not yet been completed.

First, all parts must be completed.

The injured policeman is still being cared for in hospital, but has been able to speak.
