In just one week, the number of covid-infected people in need of intensive care in Gothenburg has increased from 9 to 24, something Göteborgs-Posten was the first to report.

A total of about eighty people with covid-19 are cared for at Sahlgrenska Hospital, Mölndal Hospital and Östra Hospital.

The development meant that the entire region's hospitals have increased their preparedness for covid patients in particular.

But so far the situation is considered to be under control, and Sahlgrenska University Hospital says that "at present" there is no need to ask the Armed Forces for help with the special IVA tent that was erected outside Östra Hospital during the first wave of infections.

- The hospitals have scaled up in different ways and are much better prepared this time.

You know what covid-19 means.

If you have practiced the war before, so to speak, you know exactly what will happen now that the war is coming again, says Gabriel Holmqvist, press secretary at the Västra Götaland region.

The whole region is noticing the increasing spread of infection now.

146 patients in the region are cared for in the region's hospitals, 24 of these are in intensive care.

This is what the assistant nurse Katarina Håkansson said about the situation at the hospital in Borås to SVT Nyheter Väst over the weekend:
