Ida Hansson lives only a few kilometers from the Swedish / Norwegian border.

But the neighboring country has never been so far away.

In ordinary cases, it is the Swedish voices that are exotic at Nordby shopping center, where she works in a dietary supplement store.

But since March, when the border closed, the staff responds the few times they hear someone speak Norwegian.

- It feels a bit like the war is here, the atmosphere among us who work is very low, she says.

In practice, the trade has stopped, shops are closing and in January she will be laid off.

Threats non-profit cat activities

It is not just the job that is threatened.

The situation also affects the non-profit business she runs for relocating cats.

It depends on donated money, but it has almost completely stopped coming.

Her conclusion is that the immediate area no longer has the same economic stability as in previous years.

In the clip, you hear Ida Hansson talk about how the consequences of the pandemic have affected her.
