09 November 2020Large-scale operation at dawn today in four Laender of Austria against associations suspected of belonging to the terrorist groups 'Muslim Brotherhood' and 'Hamas'.

In the operation renamed 'Ramses', 60 apartments, commercial premises and clubs were searched by police forces and intelligence officers, and 30 people were arrested.

Prosecutors reported that they are investigating crimes such as terrorist financing, criminal organization and money laundering.

The roundup came after more than a year of investigation.

"We are acting against these criminal, extremist and inhuman organizations with the utmost severity and with all the possibilities of the rule of law," said Interior Minister Karl Nehammer.

The operation would have no connection with the terrorist attack in Vienna last Monday in which five people, four civilians and the terrorist were killed.

After Islamist arrest, police break into an apartment in Drochtersen


Attention always high, even in Germany where following the arrest of an Islamist near Lueneburg in Lower Saxony, the police broke into an apartment in Drochtersen this morning, in the same Land.

This is what the radio and television broadcaster "Ndr" reports, recalling that the man, arrested on 6 November last, is suspected of having planned an attack in Germany and is currently in custody, which may last up to 14 days from capture.

Regarding the raid this morning, the police did not want to provide details on any arrests or seizures of material.

This operation is also not connected to the jihadist attack that took place in the center of Vienna. 



Merkel tomorrow videoconference with Macron and Kurz on terrorism


Tomorrow the German Chancellor Angela Merkel will have a videoconference with the French President, Emmanuel Macron and the Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz to discuss a European initiative against Islamic terrorism.

The President of the EU Commission, Ursula von der Leyen and the President of the European Council, Charles Michel will also take part in the consultations.

Macron will hear Kurz today.

Merkel commenting on the outcome of the US presidential elections reiterated that Europe and the US "must face side by side the fight against terrorism, the coronavirus pandemic and climate change".
