"She had a real way of celebrating Africa"

Vicky Sommet, former director of RFI programs, worked with Andrée Navarro.

It bears witness to the unique imprint it left.

“

She had a real audience, her own, because she was both on the air and with the Clubs, but she was always there.

She was there in the background, I think it's important to say that.

He was really someone who had a real knowledge of the African soul.

And she had a real way of celebrating Africa, because she did interviews, little reports.

She gave voice not only to well-known personalities, but also to strangers she met.

She liked to showcase people by telling their stories.

 "

The RFI Clubs was also a way of highlighting our listeners,"

continues Vicky Sommet

.

Auditors that she did not necessarily know, but whose countries, customs and traditions she knew well.

She met them when we were traveling for festivals or concerts given by RFI.

Maybe she was the best person to do that.

First of all because she had a kind of natural interpersonal skills, this ease of approaching people, and of listening as well.

She had a personality that mixed well on the spot.

We love our African listeners, this has not changed.

She was truly an African in her own way

”.

"Andrée Navarro had a real way of celebrating Africa", testifies Vicky Sommet, ex-Director of programs at RFI

The mother of RFI clubs

Many emphasize the special bond she had with listeners.

“

Andrée was a mother for us

,” remembers Nfana Diakité, who knew her as president of the

RFI Club

in Bamako.

It is also called Maman Club RFI because beyond the fact that we are listeners, we had a very deep bond with listeners.

I liked it a lot, I found that I had a grandmother or a mother who was very caring.

When she returned to France, we continued to talk to Andrée after the shows.

Each time after the broadcasts, we still remained online to discuss our private life… All these memories allow me to say that Andrée is still by our side.

 "

A feeling also shared by Abdoulaye Arif, who knew her when he was president of the RFI Club of Ndjamena.

“

She was very close to the members and the listeners in general.

She was very available.

She answered everyone, all questions.

She even took care of calling some listeners to give them explanations of the questions they asked.

I have fond memories of it, she was the mother of all RFI clubs.

Everyone called her mom.

It's really sad, it's really sad to learn that she left like that without being able to say goodbye to him.
