The shock was terrible.

Friday evening, a head-on collision claimed the life of a man on the departmental 177 linking Rennes and Redon (Ille-et-Vilaine).

The victim was driving an ambulance traveling on the four lanes near Pipriac when it hit a dump truck.

Despite the intervention of the emergency services, the driver of the ambulance could not be resuscitated.

He was declared dead on the spot by a doctor.

According to Ouest-France, the accident occurred in a work area.

At this point, a junction reduces the number of lanes to two, instead of four, not far from the Secouette bridge.

The driver of the dump truck and the passenger of the ambulance were also injured in the collision.

They were transported to Redon hospital.

An investigation was opened by the gendarmerie to try to determine the circumstances of the accident.
