Fighting continues in Tigray, where the Ethiopian federal army on Wednesday launched an offensive to regain control of the province, which is seeking to secede.

Part of the army defected and joined the Tigrayan forces, which reportedly got their hands on a large arsenal of heavy artillery.

On Friday, a new milestone was reached with airstrikes carried out by government forces.

Tigray stands ready to shoot down any plane or helicopter, the TPLF party said yesterday.

The party indicates in passing that the air strikes did not cause any casualties, which contradicts the version of some diplomatic sources.

For the government forces, Tigray will be a cemetery and not a destination, can we still read in a violent text, where Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, former Nobel Peace Prize winner, is notably compared to Mussolini and the former leader Ethiopian Mengistu, both having in common having bombed Tigray in the past.

his offensive

on Twitter.

In this case to safeguard the Constitution, to protect the reforms and democratization of Ethiopia as well as to put an end to the impunity enjoyed by the leaders of the TPLF according to him.

Article 51 of FDRE Constitution, listing powers & functions of federal gov't stipulates that “It shall protect & defend the Constitution”.

To discharge this duty the gov't is taking measures to enforce the rule of law against a clique that attacked our National Defense Forces.

These airstrikes are a point of no return in this conflict which has not been de-escalated since Wednesday.

Parliament has already voted for the establishment of a transitional government.

All calls for peace from international leaders have been ignored.

Experts fear for their part a conflict with devastating consequences for the Horn of Africa.
