The national agency for Public Health France did not disclose the number of additional contaminations recorded in the last 24 hours on Saturday.

Due to the influx of tests, a computer bug has paralyzed the rise in positive cases of Covid-19, and has been for a few days already.

DECRYPTION

It is a meeting which is now part of the daily life of the French.

Every evening, Public Health France unveils several major data on the dynamics of the Covid-19 epidemic in the country, including the number of new contaminations recorded over the past 24 hours.

But on Saturday, this number of new contaminations was not communicated.

And for good reason: Public Health France indicated that day that since the start of the epidemic, in total, 1,748,705 cases of Covid-19 had been identified in France against 1,661,853 on Friday.

That is a difference, in theory, of 86,852 ... and an (equally theoretical) record.

A computer traffic jam problem

In reality, this figure was not communicated due to a computer traffic jam caused by the influx of tests, which had also made their census incomplete in recent days.

Friday, the number of reported cases, 60,486, was thus a "minimum" figure, as the public health body had specified, already because of this computer bug.

According to

Le Parisien

, no less than 300,000 tests were retained in this traffic jam.

In other words, the numbers of positive cases given in recent days do not really correspond to increases over 24 hours, but over several days, with results arriving late.

"We have not received all the tests transmitted by the AP-HP"

"There was a plug" at the level of the AP-HP, whose servers centralize the data sent by all the laboratories in France before redirecting them to Public Health France, "and therefore we have not received all the tests transmitted by the AP-HP ", explained Friday an official of the health agency during an online press point.

These difficulties, "in the process of being resolved", complicate the analysis of the evolution of the epidemic, a week after the entry into force of the confinement, to which the government has made adjustments in the hope of an improvement.

Corrected data will be published on Monday by Public Health France.
