Attended a memorial service for the self-defense force members who had died, such as the Prime Minister, November 7, 13:08

Prime Minister Suga attended the memorial service for the SDF members who had died, saying, "We will protect the lives and peaceful lives of the people without eliminating precious sacrifices," and comforted the spirits of the members.

A memorial service is held every year at the Ministry of Defense to comfort the spirits of SDF personnel who died in accidents during their mission.

This year, the number of attendees was reduced to less than one-third of the average year to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, and about 100 people including Prime Minister Suga, Minister of Defense Kishi, and bereaved families attended.

At the ceremony, Minister Kishi was killed by a Maritime Self-Defense Force member who died when he hit an engine that fell during the maintenance of a P3C patrol aircraft in September last year, and a Ground Self-Defense Force member who died of illness during ski training in January. I put the list of 25 people in the memorial monument.

Then, Prime Minister Suga said, "I devoted my whole body to the performance of my duties with a strong sense of responsibility, and showed my pride and sense of mission as a member of the Self-Defense Forces. We will do our utmost to contribute to the peace and stability of the world, "he said in his memorial service.

In addition, Minister Kishi said, "We will do our best to prevent such an unfortunate situation from happening again," and expressed his intention to work to prevent the recurrence of accidents.

After this, the bereaved families turned flowers to the memorial monument and comforted the spirits of the martyred members.
