The Ministry of Interior revealed that smoke detector systems have been installed within the "Hassantak" project in more than 18,000 homes, including 9,000 homes for families who are not capable through the Ministry of Community Development, confirming that they must be installed in all residential homes in the country within a period of three years.

The "Hassantuk" project aims to install an integrated wireless and wired system for early warning to protect residential homes around the clock, within an alarm system that senses smoke and fire heat, and the system connects to the command and control center on its own, without the need for extensions. The project includes all private residential homes on State level.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Civil Defense in the Ministry of Interior, Major General Dr. Jasem Muhammad Al-Marzouqi, confirmed that the "Hassantak" system was able to limit the aggravation of fires that broke out in residential villas, stressing that the system must be installed in all homes at the state level.

He revealed that, during the coming period, the way will be opened for other specialized companies to install these systems according to certain conditions and controls, in a way that contributes to competition and lower prices, as Etisalat is the company currently approved exclusively for installing this system, pointing out that the Ministry of Interior provides its services for free. In this regard, it is among its duties to protect life and property, respond to fire accidents, and manage the "Hassantuk" project.

Al-Marzouqi pointed to the recent cabinet decision to compel homes and residential homes to participate in the civil defense electronic connection and monitoring system, with the aim of enhancing safety and civil protection and preserving lives and property, by responding immediately to reports of domestic fires.

He pointed out that the installation of smoke detectors was previously optional, but with the issuance of this decision it became mandatory, as the decision gave owners of existing residential homes a period of up to three years from the issuance of the decision to amend the conditions of their residential homes in accordance with its provisions.

He explained that for homes under construction, the decision requires their owners to install the system as of January 3, 2021, and within the building requirements, approval will be obtained from the civil defense to install the system.

On the places where smoke detectors are installed in the house, Al-Marzouki mentioned that there are high-risk rooms, which are sleeping places and kitchens, in which the owner of the house is obligated to install smoke detectors, while the rest of the house's facilities are classified within medium-risk places, and the matter of installing smoke detectors in them is left to the owner of the house.

He pointed out the importance of installing smoke detectors in all places where there are furniture and carpets made of polyester, as their fire causes the production of toxic substances that paralyze a person's respiratory and nervous systems, and enter a state of coma and death due to suffocation.

As for homeowners who have installed smoke detectors without linking them to the operations room, Al-Marzouki emphasized that the Cabinet’s decision is clear in this matter, as it is required to link the system to the civil defense operation rooms.

He stressed the importance of linking smoke detector systems with the civil defense in monitoring and ensuring the continuity of the smoke detectors' work, speed of response and follow-up of the effectiveness of the system that sends a signal to the operating room in the event of any fire, where the owner of the house is immediately contacted to verify the truth of the incident, and in case the fire was In fact, the civil defense units move directly, and in the event that the call is not answered within two minutes, the civil defense vehicle will move in all cases, as well as if the person is not at home.

The "Hisnatak" system provides protection for the population around the clock, as the Civil Defense remains aware of the readiness of the system, and warnings are given to the owner and occupants of the place at an early date, which allows evacuating the place to a safe location far from danger, as well as monitoring and detecting fire incidents in stages.
