A national tribute will be paid on Saturday in Nice, in the presence of Prime Minister Jean Castex, to the three victims of the fatal knife attack in the Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption basilica at the end of October, Matignon announced on Friday.

During this ceremony which will take place "at the top of the Castle Hill", the head of government will make a speech at 12:10 pm and will have "a time of exchange with the families of the victims".

He will also give decorations to the municipal police officers of Nice, according to the provisional schedule of the ceremony.

The Prime Minister will be accompanied by the Keeper of the Seals Éric Dupond-Moretti, the Minister of Higher Education Frédérique Vidal and the Minister for Citizenship Marlène Schiappa.

The perpetrator of this attack on October 29, a 21-year-old Tunisian, Brahim Aouissaoui, was stopped by the police, who shot him several times.

On Thursday, the vital prognosis of Brahim Aouissaoui, who tested positive for the coronavirus, was still engaged, a source close to the matter told AFP.

In total, eleven people have been taken into police custody and ten released since the start of the investigation, opened by the anti-terrorism prosecution, in particular for "assassinations in connection with a terrorist enterprise" and coordinated by the Anti-Terrorist Sub-Directorate (Sdat) .
