The Arab Space Cooperation Group was established on March 19, 2019, at the initiative of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, during the activities of the second edition of the World Space Conference in Abu Dhabi, which brings together 14 Arab countries under its umbrella.

The group has entrusted its general secretariat with a number of main tasks and responsibilities, most notably facilitating and supporting the process of building space capabilities among the members of the group, by cooperating in providing training and exchanging experiences among members, through joint space projects and activities, and encouraging development, scientific research and innovation in the field of space, in addition to Coordination to achieve consistency in policies, laws and procedures.
