His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the State and Ruler of Dubai, recalled the atmosphere that accompanied His Highness’s announcement of the launch of Dubai Media City 20 years ago, and the challenges that interfered with that, to confirm that «no impossible in the UAE dictionary », And to renew hope in the ability of the people of the nation to make the impossible.

His Highness said: “Today, Dubai Media City completes 20 years since we launched it in 2000. It was a distant dream in the nineties to be an Arab media capital.

Today, the city includes 3,000 media institutions and 34,000 media professionals, of which 122 television and radio channels broadcast, and 163 publications and platforms are issued.

The city was the prelude to the construction of three media-focused complexes, followed by Dubai Production City and Dubai Studio City.

All of them formed a business environment that included 3000 companies and 30,000 specialists.

It also formed the headquarters of 122 television and radio channels, broadcasting news and entertainment programs to millions of people in dozens of languages, including Arabic, English, Chinese, German, Tagalog, Hindi and Urdu, in addition to hundreds of printed publications and electronic platforms in different languages, for readers from all over the world to enjoy.

Al Suwaidi added: “During the past two decades, we have been keen on realizing His Highness’s vision, building a vibrant and creative business complex that attracts experts, specialists and talents in various sectors of media, and developing content and creative and media services related to them, so that all of them contribute to building an economy based on knowledge and innovation.”

He said: “To expand our support for this sector, in 2013 we launched the business incubator in5, which currently includes a center specialized in incubating and empowering entrepreneurs and emerging companies in the fields of media. The incubator includes modern and advanced facilities, including recording studios, and places dedicated to photography techniques and interactive content, and others. We continuously provide entrepreneurs and startups with workshops and training sessions, and provide them with platforms to display their creativity and work and enable them to communicate with major production companies, content development and others.

We have also launched many major initiatives and events to enhance Dubai’s position and its strategic role in developing these sectors regionally. Even during the recent health crisis, we did not stop. We organized many workshops, virtual meetings, and dialogue sessions to support talents and partners.
